Pretoria – A former Attorney appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court on Tuesday on charges of theft.
Hawks’ Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said Shaun Muskat is facing charges of theft of approximately R2.7 million worth of trust funds.
“It is alleged that Muskat, who was the property conveyancer at Muskat Attorneys based in Melrose Arch in Johannesburg, allegedly pocketed the trust funds paid into his trust account by the potential property buyer in March 2017,” Mulamu said.
Muskat has since been sequestrated and prohibited from practicing as an attorney by the Law Society in 2018.
The former Attorney handed himself at the Hawks Investigation office in Johannesburg accompanied by his lawyer on Tuesday and was subsequently charged for theft.
The court granted Muskat R10 000 bail and the case was postponed to 14 April 2021 for legal aid representation.
