Pretoria – The World Health Organisation team in Wuhan on Tuesday made startling revelations about the origins of coronavirus saying it was highly unlikely that the virus was introduced to seafood market or it jumped from baits to humans.
Speaking at a WHO-China Joint Study Press Conference in Wuhan, Head of Expert Group, China’s National Health Commission, Liang Wannian said the discovery of viral sequence of coronavirus suggests that the virus originated from zoonotic transmission, but the host is yet to be identified.
A team from the World Health Organisation searching for clues about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic, spent nearly a month in the Chinese city of Wuhan where the disease was identified.
The team visited key sites, including the Huanan seafood market as well as the Wuhan Institute of Virology which has been involved in coronavirus research.
The outcome by the WHO team leaves a lot to be desired as many are left with questions rather than answers as to where the virus originated from.
