JOHANESBURG – SAPS in Limpopo province recently arrested several suspects for various crimes in one of their policing operations.
In Mokopane town, members spotted a 24 year old man, searched him and recovered eighty (80) sachets of rock drugs and fifty eight (58) sachets of nyaope and cash amount of money. He was arrested immediately, SAPS Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said in a statement on Monday.
Ngoepe said, “ Whilst on the operation in Mokopane, police spotted a suspicious male person aged 26 carrying a black bag who ran away after noticing the police. The police gave chase until he was arrested next to the clinic in extension 19. He was found in possession of 578 sachets of nyaope and a cash amount of money he stated.”
Meanwhile in Polokwane, police members spotted a suspicious 22 year old man in possession of a black bag. They searched him and found 44 sachets of dagga.
“ In addition, three suspects aged between 31 and 38 believed to be members of rival taxi associations, were also apprehended for reckless and or negligent driving, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Seshego, along the Nelson Mandela Drive during the taxi violence dispute which erupted in and around the Polokwane and Seshego areas from last week.” Ngoepe said.
Ngoepe maintained that more suspects were arrested over related offenses including driving unlicensed vehicles. The suspects will appear before different magistrate courts soon. Police investigations in all these cases are still underway.
