ActionSA pays tribute to former Soweto mayor Thebehali

Pretoria – Action South Africa has sent their condolences to the family and friends of Dr Nqoako David Thebehali following his untimely death after a long illness, Herman Mashaba, President of ActionSA said.

“An outstanding South African and devout Christian, the former mayor of Soweto , Thebehali played an integral role in the upliftment of  Soweto’s physical infrastructure as well as overall wellbeing of the community”.

Mashaba added that Thebehali  managed to secure about R268m from various South African banks to fund the electrification of Soweto as well as other numerous developments projects that include sewage and water pipes, improvement of road infrastructure, the establishment of the Soweto College of Education and the relocation of Vista University.

“In 1984 Dr Thebehali established his own church, the Fourways Ministries in Orlando East which still operates today”. said Mashaba.

Mashaba maintained that the people of Meadowlands and Diepkloof who in 1999 received their title deeds will forever remember the part he played in handing over these important documents to them and their families.
