BREAKING: Two prisoners escape from Makhanda prison in the Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape- Two prisoners escaped from Makhanda prison in the Eastern Cape on Saturday while serving sentences for various serious crimes.

“Luzuko Sabatha, 37 and Lonwabo Ntlokwana, 36 escaped on Saturday. They were serving sentences for kidnapping, assault, rape and stock theft,” Correctional Services spokesperson Singabako Nxumalo said.Nxumalo said.

Nxumalo said that, “Police are searching for them as we speak. When an inmate escapes from prison, it shows the seriousness of the danger you pose to society. An investigation on how they escaped is underway”

Last week, two prisoners Thabo Muyambo from Mozambique and Johannes Chauke from Zimbabwe who were described as dangerous also escaped from the Kgosi Mampuru ll Correctional Centre in Pretoria.
