PRETORIA – National Police Commissioner, Khehla Sitole, on Friday fired Deputy National Commissioner Bonang Mgwenya who is currently facing allegations of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
Mgwenya appeared briefly in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Monday, after she was arrested by the Investigating Directorate on criminal charges relating to corruption, fraud, theft and money laundering.
Mgwenya was initially suspended in October and departmental investigations were conducted.
Mgwenya was subsequently charged, found guilty.
The National Commissioner said he remains resolute in his efforts to clean the SAPS of any form of wrongdoing by members of all ranks.
