PRETORIA – Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, on Monday officially announced that preparations for the third South African Investment Conference are at an advanced stage.
Patel said, “this conference is an opportunity to assess what progress we have made with getting that R664 billion from an idea in the mind of an investor to the point were bricks and mortar are hitting the ground building.”
The Investment Conference will be held in Sandton, Johannesburg on 17-18 November were President Ramaphosa will preside over the opening. The previous two conferences held in 2018 and 2019 mobilised over R650bn in investment commitments.
The President’s Economic Advisor, Ms Trudi Makhaya said there are about a 1000 virtual participants who have registered for this year’s conference.
Patel also said the South African investment conference is an opportunity to show case new possibilities.
The SAIC supports the country’s drive to mobilise domestic and foreign investment to enhance inclusive growth and job creation as part of building a strong post covid-19 economy that provides opportunities for all South Africans.
