Socialite Ginimbi dies in a head-on collision

Prominent Zimbabwean businessman and socialite Genius Kadungure popularly known as Ginimbi passed on in the early hours of Sunday.

Ginimbi was involved in a head-on collision in the Philadelphia area of Borrowdale in Harare and his top of the range Rolls Royce caught fire and burst into flames. It is reported that there were three other people with him in the car.

In a series of tweets Ms Shally, Ginimbi’s publicist said, ” I feel like hell, I don’t even know which words to even use, Genius Kadungure has been called by God, he is no more. He was in a terrible accident around 5am, he died on the spot with 3 of his friends in the car, Karim, Elisha and Moana.”

Hours before his death the flamboyant socialite posted on his Instagram feed a video of him going to a club in Harare. The video showed him entering one of his lavish cars a Rolls Royce Wraith, one of his latest acquisitions.

“The other car had three occupants who also died on the spot.” said Zimbabwe police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

Kadungure had a fleet of luxurious vehicles which included Ferrari Spider, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz AMG 63, Land Rover Collection among others.

Over the past two years Ginimbi had been picked up by police on allegations of tax evasion.

Genius was also the club owner of Dreams a flashy nightclub and Chief Executive Officer of a gas company, Pioneer Gases which has interests in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The late socialite was cousin to Mudiwa Hood a gospel Hip hop artist and to Mary Mubaiwa, former wife to Zimbabwean vice President.
