PRETORIA – Shepherd Bushiri of the Enlightened Christian Gathering, his wife Mary and a co-accused, will hear the outcome of their bail application on Wednesday.
They have been held in custody since October 20.
The Bushiri’s and co-accused Landiwe Ntlokwana are charged with fraud and money laundering valued at R102m.
Magistrate Thelede adjourned the case, as she needed time to consider the information presented in court by the legal teams.
The state has argued that Bushiri is a flight risk if released on bail. It is alleged that Bushiri has three passports.
Advocate Annelene van den Heever, representing the Bushiris, said they are prepared to pay a bail amount of R200,000 and were prepared to abide by the bail conditions set in 2019.
