PRETORIA – Four suspects linked to the spate of armed robberies and other serious crimes in the Theo Martins Poort – Magalies Mountain area along the R80 Mabopane Highway, have been arrested.
Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela said: “Our rolenas the SAPS is to ensure that our communities feel safe and secure at all times. The hard work by the team of investigators and the results thereof, will not only bring to a screeching halt, the reign of terror by criminals in the vicinity of the Theo Martins Poort – Magalies Mountain area along the R80 Mabopane Highway, but will also take us a long way in restoring public confidence in the SAPS,”
A number of victims have come forward to the police. Some of the cases were already registered while new cases were registered by the police for further investigation.
The past weekend saw the first arrests linked to the Theo Martins Poort – Magalies Mountain crimes. A group of five men was arrested in the Pretoria West area. This brings the total number of arrests to nine. Among them a 19-year-old linked to two armed robbery cases.
Mawela said the other three were linked to a murder.
The suspects will appear in Court in due course.
