JOHANNESBURG – The Democratic Alliance (DA) will on Thursday picket outside the Kempton Park Regional Court in solidarity with the family of Karien van Rensburg (37). Karien was allegedly killed in August this year and her husband Deon (41) is accused of her murder.
“Our shadow MEC for Social Development, Refiloe Nt’sekhe, the DA local councillors and activists will picket outside the Kempton Park Regional Court to ensure justice for Karien van Rensburg,” said the DA in a statement.
Karien was allegedly severely assaulted by van Rensburg on 5 August 2019 and subsequently died on 18 August 2019. Van Rensburg was arrested and the initial charge of attempted murder changed to murder when Karien died.
The accused is set to re-appear in the Kempton Park Regional court on Thursday after he was granted bail previously.
