Tshwane Metro Police Department mourns the death of its officer involved in a head-on collision

Pretoria – A Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) officer was killed in a head-on collision on Wednesday.

The metro department said the officer was off duty when he was involved in a head-on collision with an A Re Yeng bus on the corner of Paul Kruger Street and Mansfield Avenue.

“He passed away at the scene and the driver of the bus along with four passengers were rushed to hospital”

The cause of the accident is still unknown at this stage said the department.

According to TMPD “a case of culpable homicide was opened and will be investigated further by the local South African Police Service (SAPS)”

TMPD urged those who might have witnessed the accident to contact TMPD on 012 358 7095/6 or the nearest SAPS.

TMPD also said they are very saddened to lose one of their hard-working members.

“He was deployed at special operations at the time of his passing. We would like to send heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues” said TMPD
