ROODEPOORT – A 44-year-old alleged drug dealer is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’ s Court this morning for alleged possession of heroin worth R5.6 million.
Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu said “the case follows a 2018 incident when the 44-year-old man was arrested by the Johannesburg serious organised crime investigation unit for a stockpile of heroin worth an estimated R5.6 million in the boot of his vehicle in Florida”.
The case was provisionally withdrawn pending an analysis report from the forensic services. The forensic report was later released and it confirmed that the stash was indeed heroin.
Mulamu said a warrant of arrest was issued, but while executing the arrest, it was discovered that the man had already been arrested on another separate charge by the Brixton SAPS trio task team on Thursday”.
Despite the man already behind bars he was served with the warrant of arrest and will appear in court on Monday morning.
